Frequent and in-depth researching is arguably one of the most important aspects of having an active occult or esoteric practice. However, for some people it is not always an accessible option to read long, wordy articles. Whether it's because (like me) you have ADHD and can't focus on informational texts for extended periods of time, or another reason, it's always a good thing to have alternate methods of study. One of my personal favorite methods is by watching YouTube videos! I've been watching occult and witchcraft YouTube content for a while now, so I thought I'd give my suggestions of the best witchy and occult YouTubers. These are simply my opinion, and are in no particular order.
UPDATE (04/27/22): THIS REVIEW WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN IN APRIL OF 2021. IN LIGHT OF RECENT NEWS, I CAN NO LONGER IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SUPPORT GEORGINA ROSE, AKA DA'AT DARLING. I AM LEAVING THIS REVIEW UP FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY, BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO HER TIES TO THE ALT-RIGHT I NO LONGER SUPPORT OR ENDORSE GEORGINA OR HER CONTENT.
Da'at Darling
Georgina Rose, known on her social media platforms as Da'at Darling, is a ceremonial magician and Thelemite. A self-described "part-time esoteric content creator and part-time scarlet woman," Georgina's channel is dedicated to informational videos about western esotericism and organized occultism, spanning topics from Wicca to Chaos Magick. She is also one of the co-hosts of the Occultism With A Side Of Salt podcast.
In videos averaging at a length of fifteen minutes, Georgina clearly and aptly explains difficult occult and esoteric concepts in simple, accessible terms that even an absolute beginner occultist can fully understand. Moreover, Georgina stays true to the philosophies and beliefs of the content she is teaching. For example, in her video ""The Book Of The Law" by Aleister Crowley Explained," Georgina provides helpful commentary on The Book of The Law while still adhering to Crowley's assertion that "all questions of the Law are to be decided only by appeal to my writings, each for himself."
Georgina's YouTube content is perfect for the person looking to expand their studies of ceremonial magic and organized occultism. Her videos are beginner-friendly and easy to follow despite their complex subject matter. She presents her content in an engaging and entertaining format, and provides excellent accounts of her chosen topics.
