What is Bibliomancy?
Also known as stichomancy, bibliomancy is the divination practice of interpreting randomly selected passages from books, holy or otherwise. The practice of bibliomancy has been documented in Europe, the Middle East, and China. The earliest record of bibliomancy occurred with Jewish scholars utilizing the Torah.
Popular book choices are the Bible, the Aenead, I Ching, the Odyssey, and the Iliad. Use of the Aenead was especially prevalent during the Middle Ages.
It is not necessary to choose a 'holy' book. It is perfectly acceptable to use a more modern or mundane book that you have a personal connection to. It's even possible to use a personal journal or other handwritten book.
Books can be selected randomly, deliberately, or intuitively. Some bibliomancy practitioners also utilize dice or other random selection method to choose books for bibliomancy.
Interpretation of passages is primarily done through intuition and personal significance. There are no set or definite meanings when performing bibliomancy.

General Tips and Tricks
The meaning of your selected passage may not be obvious to you at first. Reading the passage multiple times, while thinking of all possible interpretations, may be helpful.
If you select a fiction book that you're intimately familiar with, consider what point of the story the characters are at in your selected passage. What does the passage mean within the context of the story? What does it mean to you?
Selecting books that are sacred to certain deities or spirits may aid in communication with the entity! One of the easiest ways that I personally communicate with Dionysus is through bibliomancy with The Bacchae.
Bibliomancy can also be used to determine certain signs or omens that may carry significance for you. It can be helpful to pay attention to symbolism or literary tropes.
